Pen Women Edit, Contribute to Anthology: The Brave

The Brave: A Collection of Poetry and Prose, containing works by CNY Branch Pen Women and nearly fifty other contributors, will be released shortly after Veteran's Day. Pen Woman Rachael Ikins is one of two editors of the anthology published by Clare Songbirds Publishing House. In addition to Ikins, who served as both editor and contributor, the work of other Pen Women authors and family included in this anthology are Judith McGinn and her son Seamus (shown on the cover); Joan Applebaum who contributed art and writing and her son Ben Applebaum (photography); Katie Turner and her husband Ralph, (on the cover), Janet Fagal, (parents on the cover), and Maureen McCarthy. Lun 'Allure Book Launch and Reading in Delaware with Pen Women

Pen Women Joan Applebaum (Holly Branch and CNY Branch), Rachael Ikins (CNY Branch), and Judith McGinn (CNY Branch) read their work at the Lun 'Allure: To the Moon and More book launch at Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The anthology which is thematically centered on the topic of the moon is designed to capture the spirit of the celestial body and the 50th anniversary of the United States' Apollo 11 moon landing and walk. The project was the brainchild of Pen Woman Louise H. McMurray (Holly Branch). The call for submissions went out all over the country, and the CNY Branch is proud of have three of our members as contributors to the collection in both art and letters. Pen Women

CNY Branch Members Tour Yoko Ono Solo Show at Everson Museum of Art

Returning to the site of her first solo museum show, Yoko Ono staged a show at the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, NY which was attended by members of the Central New York (CNY) Branch of the National League of American Pen Women (NLAPW) on October 24, 2019. One of the last few days of the showing, Ono's "Remembering the Future" exhibition has been ongoing since August 31, 2019 and will close on October 27, 2019. As CNY Branch members quietly discussed the art, conversations could be overheard about Ono's conceptual art as associated with the Fluxus art movement, and the "Wakon yosai" spirit of the showing in which the Japanese spirit is married to Western technology.
