Karen Hempson's Non-Fiction Writing Earns Honorable Mention in NLAPW Vinnie Ream Competition

Karen Hempson's chapter from her book Bean Pickers, Portrait of My Italian-American Immigrant Family, earned honorable mention in the NLAPW's Vinnie Ream non-fiction competition. Karen's chapter, titled "The Immigrant Healer, The Story of Giovannina Ruggiero Foresti," was honored in the non-fiction category of the competition. Winners and honorable mention recognition will be formally announced at this years Biennial Conference in Iowa.

An excerpt from Karen's book also earned finalist status from the William Faulkner-William Wisdom Creative Writing national competition.
