CNY Pen Woman Vanessa Johnson's Juneteenth Presentation

Griot/master storyteller Vanessa Johnson was invited to the Phillips Free Library in Homer, NY for a Juneteenth presentation on June 20, 2022. A rapt audience of children and adults listened as Vanessa told the stories of slaves, of freed slaves, of the underground railroad, of the struggles of individual people to be free in this land. Mirroring voices from the past, Vanessa held her audience in the palm of her hand as she seamlessly moved from one character to another in the telling of history come to life through the lives of real people.
