Words and Music Rule the Night

The Seward House Museum in Auburn, NY, was the site for an amazing evening of words and music, featuring Pen Woman Nancy Dafoe and Aaduna poet Shawnte Blyss Barr. Thunder and rains held off for a few hours to give the Auburn First Friday event smooth sailing on Friday, August 5, 2022. Musicians Bernie Williford and Chris Jones started off the evening with a dynamic music set before poet Shawnte Blyss Barr read from her first book of poetry on the Seward House porch above the garden.

Dafoe then read some of her newest poetry about our confrontation with climate change from a collection in progress before reading a few poems from her collection to be released by Finishing Line Press in October: The House Was Quiet, But the Mind Was Anxious.

M.C. for the evening event was Bill Berry, Jr., Aaduna, Inc. C.E.O. A number of CNY Branch Pen Women attended this very special event.
